The guiding principle behind the open-space design blends into the overall identity-defining image and enhances the complex’s appeal. The layout of the buldings divides the open space into zones, enabling a precise design and a clearly defined sequence of spaces that are skillfully separated from one another.


The result is a place for communication and interaction that stands in dialogue with texturally rich niches and secluded spots. Identity-defining elements such as the play dragon and the skate park are retained on the site and integrated into the design.

Flexible, square platforms define the inviting entrance area on Goumoenstraße. There are areas for playing, moving around, and experimenting, including sand and water play. All of this is set on a water-permeable gravel surface that integrates the school complex into its immediate surroundings.



The boundaries blur and the transitions are smooth. The native trees and shrubs, which blend harmoniously into the surroundings, provide pleasant shade during the hot summer months. The vibrant colors of the flowers in spring or the charming autumn hues allow visitors to experience the seasons up close. The vegetation has a positive effect on the microclimate and contributes to the development of habitats for flora and fauna.

The area for older students is located along the entire strip that runs parallel to the railroad tracks. The multisport field, the roller skating rink, and the barbecue area are connected to these students’ classrooms and will occupy the noisier outdoor areas.

At the rear of the building, facing the forest, the outdoor areas for the younger students are created. Thanks to their nature-oriented design, the little ones can explore the world through their various senses, which promotes learning.


The “Grüner Matte” plateau continues to play a central role: During school hours. It houses the grass playground with movable goals; on weekends, it transforms into a green gathering place for the neighborhood.

The school buildings are surrounded by lush green spaces, so that the architecture seems to blend into the landscape. Most of the bicycle and scooter parking spaces are located along the access road parallel to Goumoenstraße. Additionally, parking spaces for the teenagers are also located next to the lower area, while the parking spaces for teachers are located next to the rear entrance.
